Trump Announces Deal With Putin to Free up 300,000 Tonnes of Russian Diesel

The United States President declared that an agreement with Russian officials has been reached, allowing the immediate release of 300,000 tonnes of diesel into global markets, followed by 500,000 tonnes in November and a further one million tonnes shortly afterwards.

The announcement was made on the social media platform Truth Social, with claims that the new supply will bring diesel prices down sharply, potentially easing the cost of living for Americans and the international community.

Fuel prices have surged since the conflict in Iran began in February, with the average U.S. diesel rate currently at $6.28 a gallon, down slightly from a record $6.53 earlier in September. The increased availability could affect the energy market in unpredictable ways.

Following the announcement, the U.S. Treasury issued a temporary license permitting Russian diesel to enter the market, reflecting swift governmental support for the deal.

An envoy of the Russian president expressed welcome for the cooperation, suggesting that joint efforts on diesel and energy could benefit global markets.
