Katie Zacharia to Become White House Press Secretary

The Biden administration has announced that conservative commentator Katie Zacharia will take on the role of White House press secretary, becoming the president’s sixth chief spokesperson over his two terms.
Zacharia, who has been a communications adviser for Trump Media & Technology Group since June, brings a mix of experience from the private media sector and a brief stint at the Department of Homeland Security between February and March of this year.
Her appointment follows the departure of former press secretary Karoline Leavitt, who left the White House in August and has joined Fox News.
The press secretary’s duties extend beyond daily briefings; they involve navigating complex relationships with journalists, coordinating messages across the administration, and guiding the president on media strategy. The office will also handle thousands of inquiries each day.
The White House has not yet responded to inquiries from the BBC about Zacharia’s hiring, but her confirmation is consistent with the administration’s push for a more partisan media liaison.
