WASHINGTON (AP) — An AP-NORC poll indicates that many groups pivotal to Donald Trump's election are unhappy with his presidency, highlighting declines in support among critical demographics, including Hispanic adults and younger voters.
In the survey of over 2,500 U.S. adults conducted between April 16 and April 20, a noticeable shift has occurred in how Trump is perceived concerning his performance in office, particularly regarding economic management and immigration.
Since March 2025, Trump's approval rating among Hispanic adults has plummeted by 16 percentage points, while his support among men has decreased by 9 percentage points. Reporting shows that only about one-quarter of Hispanic adults approve of his handling of the presidency, down from about 40% just over a year ago.
A Decline in Young Adult Support
Among young voters, particularly women, approval ratings are similarly dire, with only 20% of women under 45 expressing approval of Trump's handling of the economy.
Waning Support Among Men
Trump has historically supported traditional male voter interests, but his approval rating among men has also dipped significantly. From 47% at the start of his term, it has now fallen to 38%.
MAGA Base Loyalty Remains Strong
Despite these declines, Trump's MAGA supporters continue to support him robustly, with 90% expressing approval for his job performance. However, discontent among non-MAGA Republicans indicates a shift in party dynamics.
The data highlights critical challenges for Trump as he navigates his second term amidst rising economic and political concerns. As he approaches the next election cycle, this feedback from key constituencies may shape his strategies moving forward.
