At least three Palestinian women have been killed and eight more injured after missile debris hit a beauty salon in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS).
The PRCS confirmed that shrapnel struck the site in the town of Beit Awwa, located near Hebron in southern West Bank. Reports from the official Palestinian news agency Wafa indicated that fragments landed on a metal caravan used as a salon and several other locations around the West Bank.
A Thai worker was also killed by shrapnel that affected a farming community in Israel, as reported by Israeli medics. The incidents unfolded on Wednesday night after Israel's military announced it was 'working to intercept' an Iranian missile attack.
Wafa identified the deceased women as Mais Ghazi Masalmeh, 17, Sahira Rizq Masalmeh, 50, and Amal Sobhi Abdel Karim Matawa' Masalmeh, 36. The PRCS stated that response teams, which included at least five ambulances, rushed to the scene and encountered numerous casualties and injuries.
The bodies of the women were transported to a local medical facility, along with other victims who suffered critical and moderate wounds. Initially, there were reports of four women being killed, but this figure was later revised to three.
Challenges faced by the rescue teams included significant difficulties reaching the site due to closed iron gates, which 'had a direct and critical impact on the time available to save the injured victims'.
In Israel, the deceased worker was found in Moshav Adanim, located about 12 miles (20 km) northeast of Tel Aviv amid scattered metal shrapnel at the scene. His identity has not been immediately released.
The BBC has sought comments from the Israeli military regarding the incident.
