George Clooney Critiques Kamala Harris's Presidential Nomination
In a recent interview, actor and activist George Clooney expressed that it was a 'mistake' for Kamala Harris to replace Joe Biden as the Democratic candidate for the 2024 election.
Clooney had previously written an op-ed in the New York Times advocating for Biden to step aside, arguing that the aging president was outmatched by time and challenging the decision to nominate Harris.
Following Biden's announcement that Harris would take his place, Clooney remarked, 'We had a chance,' indicating remorse for the lack of a primary to battle-test potential candidates.
He noted that Harris faced a significant hurdle in running against her own record, claiming, 'It’s hard to do if the point of running is to say, 'I’m not that person'.'
In response to Clooney's criticism, Hunter Biden took to social media to challenge the actor's perspective and accused him of exaggerating concerns over his father's mental acuity.
Clooney reiterated his view that Biden's capabilities were not what they used to be, remarking, 'He wasn't even the Joe Biden of 2020.' This ongoing discourse highlights the fractures within the Democratic Party as they look towards future elections.
