A state prosecutor has subpoenaed the city of Jacksonville as part of an investigation into alleged immigration enforcement interference by Mayor Donna Deegan’s Hispanic outreach coordinator, Yanira Cardona. Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier revealed the action in a social media post, emphasizing the need to hold accountable those who might obstruct immigration enforcement.
The subpoena, as obtained by Jacksonville Today, mandates city officials to produce communications, including emails and social media messages related to Cardona's activities from January 2 to 16.
This development comes shortly after Cardona returned to her role at City Hall post-suspension for posting a controversial video regarding interactions with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
