Three Israelis were killed and eight others were injured in a shooting attack attributed to Palestinians targeting a bus and other vehicles in the northern occupied West Bank. The tragic incident, reported by Israeli paramedics, involved two women in their 60s and a man in his 40s. The Magen David Adom ambulance service revealed that the bus driver suffered serious injuries due to gunfire and shattering glass.

Witnesses claim that the armed assailants opened fire on vehicles near the village of al-Funduq along Highway 55 before fleeing the scene. The Israeli military has labeled the attackers as "terrorists" and commenced a manhunt, setting up roadblocks and surrounding towns in an effort to apprehend them.

Paramedic Avichai Ben Tzurya provided a grim recount of the situation, stating, "We conducted quick searches and identified two females and a male in private cars without a pulse, suffering from severe gunshot wounds. We had no choice but to pronounce them dead at the scene." Victims were transported to central Israel hospitals for treatment.

Following the attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged to ensure justice for the "abhorrent murderers," promising that "No-one will get away" as he took to social media to express his condemnation.

Though no Palestinian factions immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, Hamas lauded the event as a "heroic response," pointing to what they described as ongoing Israeli crimes, specifically the conflict in Gaza. The violence in the West Bank has intensified following a deadly assault by Hamas on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, which has resulted in significant casualties on both sides.

The Palestinian health ministry indicated that two Palestinians were also killed by Israeli forces in recent incidents, one being a 17-year-old during an Israeli raid in Nablus and another, a 40-year-old, during a broader military operation in Meithalun, where 19 arrests occurred. The spate of violence underscores a critical juncture in the already fraught Israel-Palestine relationship.
