BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — In a troubling turn of events, a University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) football player attacked two of his teammates early on Saturday, causing concern within the team and the university community. The stabbing occurred at the Football Operations Building on campus, mere hours before the team’s game against the University of South Florida. The injured players were reported to be in stable condition while the assailant is now in custody. UAB has not released the names of the individuals involved.
Despite the violence, UAB decided to proceed with the afternoon game at Protective Stadium, honoring 29 senior players during this pivotal Senior Day event. In a statement, the university reiterated that their top priority remains the safety and well-being of all students, as they navigate this unexpected and distressing situation.
