TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Savannah Guthrie, the notable host of the “Today” show, is asking for prayers to find her 84-year-old mother, Nancy, who authorities believe may have been kidnapped or taken against her will in Tucson, Arizona.

In a heartfelt plea shared on social media, Guthrie expressed the family's distress, stating, “Thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant. Raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment. Bring her home.”

The urgency to locate Nancy Guthrie is heightened due to her need for medication, as Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos noted, “If she’s alive right now, her meds are vital. I can’t stress that enough.” The sheriff revealed that it has been over 24 hours since her disappearance, emphasizing the life-threatening nature of her situation without the necessary medication.

Nancy was last seen at her Tucson home on Saturday night, and authorities were alerted to her absence after a church member reported her missing. She reportedly lives alone and was quickly reported missing by her family after checks showed she was not at home.

As the search extends into its second day, authorities are using drones, search dogs, and community volunteers along with assistance from the Border Patrol. The case has also garnered attention from the FBI, which has offered to aid in the investigation. Sheriff Nanos mentioned, “We don’t see this as a search mission so much as it is a crime scene," indicating the serious nature of the investigation.

Nancy’s limited mobility raises concerns that she may not have left her home on her own, and officials are treating her sound mental state as a significant factor in the investigation.

The investigation continues, with aerial support from a sheriff’s helicopter covering areas near the affluent Catalina Foothills region of Tucson, where Nancy resides. The family remains hopeful as they await any news about her whereabouts.
