WASHINGTON — Former President Joe Biden is in a new phase of treatment for an aggressive form of prostate cancer, receiving radiation and hormone therapy. Biden's spokesperson, Kelly Scully, confirmed the treatment plan on Saturday. The 82-year-old Democrat had left office in January after dropping his reelection bid six months earlier, following a challenging debate against Donald Trump and concerns regarding his age and health.

In May, it was announced that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer, which had reportedly spread to his bones after he experienced urinary symptoms.

Prostate cancers are graded using a Gleason score of 6 to 10, with Biden's cancer scoring a concerning 9, indicating a particularly aggressive type. Last month, he also underwent surgery to remove skin cancer lesions from his forehead.
