Bruce Springsteen has dedicated his new song, 'Streets of Minneapolis,' to the citizens of Minneapolis, criticizing President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement actions in the city.

The song’s lyrics describe the turmoil in Minneapolis with phrases like “a city aflame fought fire and ice ’neath an occupier’s boots,” referring to Trump’s administration as “King Trump’s private army.” Springsteen expressed his solidarity with the citizens, remembering two victims of a recent shooting by federal agents—Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

Springsteen revealed he wrote and recorded the piece over the weekend in reaction to these tragic events, stating, “It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors.” The composition begins with minimal acoustic guitar and voice, gradually building up with a full band and culminating in impactful chants of “ICE Out!”

“Oh our Minneapolis, I hear your voice,” Springsteen passionately sings, advocating for unity and justice: “We’ll take our stand for this land/And the stranger in our midst.” The song mirrors the themes of his earlier work, evoking strong emotional connections to his song 'Streets of Philadelphia.'

Springsteen has a long history of criticizing President Trump, who has called him “overrated.” Their public exchanges have often highlighted their starkly contrasting views on politics and the state of the nation.
