Ezzeldin Hassan Musa, exhausted and traumatized, shares his harrowing account of fleeing from violence in El-Fasher, where the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) brutally controlled the city. He describes ultimately managing to escape after witnessing horrific violence against many men who attempted to flee.

Now in the town of Tawila, which is about 80 kilometers away from El-Fasher, Ezzeldin reports that he and others who escaped suffered extreme brutality during their attempt to seek safety. He recalls seeing people murdered in front of him and receiving severe beatings from RSF fighters who sought to execute them. Ezzeldin explains, “We left El-Fasher four days ago. The suffering we encountered on the way was unimaginable.”

The RSF later admitted to some “violations” in El-Fasher, noting that investigations would take place, while a UN official mentioned that some suspects had been arrested. With many families fleeing the city due to the violence, reports indicate that around 5,000 people have reached Tawila recently, highlighting the extreme situation faced by civilians caught in the conflict.

Ahmed Ismail Ibrahim, who also fled, recounted how four of the six people he escaped with were killed in front of him by RSF fighters looking for suspected soldiers among them. Similarly, Yusra Ibrahim Mohamed fled after her soldier husband was killed, sharing the terrifying calculations they had to make while dodging conflict zones.

Reports from humanitarian workers in Tawila reveal that hundreds of women and children, along with the severely injured, are now receiving emergency care as the situation continues to evolve. Aid organizations stress the dire need for humanitarian support in the region as many families remain stranded amid worsening conditions.
