Russian Bridge Attacks in Kyiv: What We Know

Over the last four days Russian forces have intensified strikes against Kyiv's major bridges, targeting the Pivnichnyi (Northern) and Pivdennyi (Southern) spans.

The Pivnichnyi bridge has suffered a second consecutive strike, while the Pivdennyi bridge has been hit multiple times earlier this week.

The latest attack coincided with a surprise visit from German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to the Ukrainian capital.

BBC Ukraine correspondent Dan Johnson reports from near one of the damaged bridges, detailing the ongoing damage and operational responses.
