Israel Strikes Lebanon Again Amid Trump Criticizing Netanyahu
Israeli jets hit southern Lebanon’s Nabatieh al‑Fawqa area and the outskirts of Kfar Tebnit, marking a fresh wave of air strikes that come after the U.S. president publicly criticized the move at the G7 summit in France.
The attacks target Hezbollah positions, the Iran‑backed militia that has been in conflict with Israel since the April 2023 US‑Iran agreement was announced. Netanyahu declared that Israeli forces will remain in Lebanon “for as long as necessary.”
Trump said that Israel had "been fighting Hezbollah for too long" and that the "unnecessary killing" could be curtailed. He also warned that any Israeli assault on Lebanon would violate the interim agreement he and Iran had reached.
The deal, still unpublished, is expected to be signed in Bürgenstock, Switzerland this week. Trump stated he might hold a press conference to read the full text word‑for‑word.
Both sides have already launched retaliatory attacks since the dining‑table settlement was announced, raising fears that the conflict could spill further into the region.
