Fatal Plane Crash in San Diego Leaves Several Dead and Homes Damaged

In a tragic incident in San Diego, a small plane crash claimed several lives and caused severe damage to homes and vehicles in the Murphy Canyon neighborhood early Thursday morning. Authorities confirmed that more than one person from the plane, identified as a Cessna 550, perished in the crash, although no residents were reported to have serious injuries. In response to the incident, around 100 residents were evacuated from the vicinity as emergency services worked at the scene.

Fire Chief Dan Eddy stated during a press briefing that jet fuel was spilled over the area, complicating rescue efforts as crews searched affected homes for any trapped individuals. The crash led to numerous homes suffering direct hits, leaving charred vehicles scattered across the road. Local resident Christopher Moore recounted the terrifying experience when he and his family were awakened by a loud noise and discovered a car engulfed in flames outside their home.

Another witness described hearing a peculiar noise followed by a loud explosion, indicating the crash’s intensity. The aircraft was reportedly en route to Montgomery Field, located about six miles from the downtown area. The identities of those aboard the aircraft have yet to be released, while the area remains cordoned off for ongoing investigation and recovery efforts.
