Rising Resistance: Anti-Hamas Protests Surge in Southern Gaza**

As the war escalates, southern Gaza sees unprecedented demonstrations against Hamas, signaling a shift in public sentiment amidst ongoing conflict.**

For the third consecutive day, protests against Hamas have erupted in southern Gaza, with demonstrators calling for an end to the war and the group's presence. Activists assert that discontent is rising as public disillusionment grows amid the incessant conflict.**

In a dramatic display of public dissent, hundreds of Palestinians in southern Gaza have taken to the streets for the third consecutive day, voicing their opposition to Hamas amidst the prolonged conflict. Social media videos capture demonstrators chanting, "Out! Out! Out! All of Hamas, out!" as calls for an end to the intense warfare and the group’s leadership grow louder.

The protests, which began on Monday, were reportedly initiated by young activists, catching the attention of others who were en route to community kitchens. Activists emphasized the danger associated with opposing Hamas, citing circulated threats on journalists’ communication platforms aimed at suppressing any negative reporting about the faction.

The movement gained momentum following the circulation of controversial remarks by senior Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri, who claimed in a late March podcast that the conflict with Israel was "eternal." Many protesters expressed frustration over the leadership's indifference to the suffering of the Gazan population, with one video showing slogans such as, "To those with Hamas, be aware the people of Gaza will dig your grave."

Protests had previously been small and sporadic in northern Gaza, but recent developments indicate a significant shift. Journalists face strict constraints in reporting on the ground, complicating assessments of anti-Hamas sentiment from a distance.

Intensifying Israeli air strikes in areas like Khan Younis have led to substantial civilian displacement. A protester known as Alaa, who requested anonymity for safety reasons, articulated the dire situation: "Escape is impossible; we are dying from hunger and bombings." His experiences reflect the broader despair felt by many, with claims that even if Hamas were to be removed, resistance to Israeli occupation would continue to manifest in new forms.

Violence against dissenters remains a grave concern. Earlier this year, 22-year-old Oday a-Rubai was reportedly killed following his involvement in protests, highlighting the perils faced by those challenging Hamas publicly. Alaa recounted interactions where armed men attempted to intimidate protesters but were ultimately outnumbered.

Moumen al-Natour, a co-founder of the anti-Hamas group “We Want to Live,” attributed the protests to “fatigue” and “displacement costs,” suggesting many now see no choice but to confront Hamas at this critical juncture. The dire humanitarian situation continues to worsen, with the United Nations reporting over 57,000 people displaced since May, and alarming casualty figures emerging daily from sources within Gaza amid the ongoing military operations.

The protests underscore a potentially pivotal moment in Gaza, as opposition to Hamas grows amidst an unyielding conflict landscape. As the war unfolds, the future of public dissent and its implications for Hamas remain uncertain, leaving the international community watching closely for developments in this escalating situation.
