Police in Sydney’s western suburbs arrested three men on October 28 after a raid seized 45.4 liters of liquid methamphetamine, 5.6 kg of crystal methamphetamine, and 48 rounds of ammunition from a property in Glendenning, about 36 km northwest of central Sydney. The drugs were estimated to be worth 15.4 million Australian dollars, according to statements from the Australian Police.
The raid was carried out by detectives from an organized crime strike force on October 15, as part of an investigation into an alleged drug supply syndicate, Xinhua reported. The seized methamphetamine was said to have a combined street value of 15.4 million AUD (10.8 million USD) and was described as “greater than large commercial quantities.”
A 38‑year‑old man was arrested at the time of the raid and charged with supplying a prohibited drug in greater than large commercial quantities, a offence that carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment. He was also charged with possessing ammunition without a licence. Bail was refused.
On the following day, two men, both aged 46, were arrested when officers carried out additional search warrants at the same property. During this search, police seized an additional 88 grams of methamphetamine and located an inactive clandestine laboratory. One of the 46‑year‑olds was charged with supplying a prohibited drug in greater than large commercial quantities. The other was charged with supplying a prohibited drug in greater than indictable, but less than commercial, quantities and with supplying an unregistered pistol.
All three defendants were denied bail and are reportedly being held in custody while prosecutors prepare a full indictment. The charges cover not only drug supply but also weapons offences, including the possession of an unregistered pistol and unlicensed ammunition.
Xinhua’s coverage noted that the operation was part of a broader effort to disrupt the alleged syndicate’s operations. While the raid yielded substantial amounts of methamphetamine and ammunition, the investigation into the network’s structure and wider reach remains ongoing.
The arrest of three men marks a significant gain for Sydney police, amid growing concerns about methamphetamine supply in New South Wales. Officials have not yet released details on potential further arrests or on whether additional evidence will link the suspects to other drug‑related activities beyond the Glendenning site.
New information on the outcomes of the court proceedings, potential sentencing outcomes, or the final extent of the alleged syndicate’s reach has yet to be disclosed. The investigation into the syndicate’s scope, the full list of individuals involved, and the ultimate legal consequences for the arrested men will remain unresolved until court actions are finalized.
