Woman Charged with Intimidating Jurors in the Lindsay Clancy Trial
Dawn Light, 56, is now charged with aggravated intimidation of a juror after she was arrested for taking photographs of jury members as they left the Plymouth courthouse on Tuesday, during the livestreamed trial of Lindsay Clancy, who is accused of murdering her three children.
Clancy, 36, is facing three counts of first‑degree murder and has pleaded not guilty. The trial has attracted national and international media attention, and the jury has been deliberating since Thursday. Authorities said Light had entered a restricted area in a parked car, photographed jurors, and then tried to justify her actions as a “misunderstanding” – a claim echoed by her lawyer, Jennifer White.
Prosecutors presented evidence that Light’s deleted phone folder contained photos of jurors exiting the courthouse. In court, Light’s attorney stated, “This is a complete misunderstanding, your honor. My client was trying to get a picture of Ms Clancy.” After a swarm of reporters gathered, Light answered a question about why she wanted to see Clancy with the reply, “why not?”
Judge William Sullivan, overseeing the case, had issued an order specifically prohibiting the photographing or filming of jurors. Light was also placed under a restraining order that keeps her away from the courthouse and from anyone involved in the Clancy trial, and she was ordered not to produce or disseminate any photos that could be captured on iCloud.
Prosecutors requested a $50,000 bail, which the judge denied. The case highlights the judicial system’s effort to protect the integrity of an unprecedented and highly controversial trial.
