A Russian strike has killed at least four people, including three young children, in a town west of Kharkiv, a Ukrainian official said.

Oleg Synegubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, reported that two boys, both aged one, a two-year-old girl, and a 34-year-old man died after a drone hit the house where they were staying.

In the attack, a 35-year-old pregnant woman and a 76-year-old woman were also injured.

This Tuesday night's strike on Bohodukhiv comes as Moscow resumes violence after a brief pause, coinciding with severe cold weather across Ukraine. US President Donald Trump had urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to observe this pause.

Additionally, Russian forces targeted the city of Slovyansk, dropping seven bombs that killed two individuals, one of whom was an 11-year-old girl.

Bohodukhiv had already been subjected to earlier assaults by Russian forces.

The conflict intensified over the past week, contributing to power outages affecting tens of thousands, and leaving casualties, including a mother and her son.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed grave concern over the attacks, stating that Russian forces are focusing on critical transport and energy infrastructure, utilizing ballistic missiles in record numbers.

Local authorities have declared a state of emergency due to the energy crisis, which follows the end of an 'energy truce' intended to provide relief during extreme weather conditions.

Simultaneously, Ukrainian forces carried out a drone attack on Volzhsky, in the Volgograd region of Russia, damaging an apartment and igniting a factory fire, according to regional officials.
