Three people have died after a helicopter crashed off the Hawaiian island of Kauai, police said. The helicopter was carrying one pilot and four passengers, with two survivors taken to a hospital.

The helicopter was operated by Airborne Aviation, which advertises thrilling tours of the island's natural landmarks. Authorities reported that the aircraft crash-landed about 100 yards off Kalalau beach.

The crash was reported to police at around 15:45 local time, after which responders from local police, fire departments, and the US Coast Guard arrived at the scene. Kauai’s Mayor Derek Kawakami expressed condolences, emphasizing the community's view of visitors as part of the family.

Andrew Williams from the coast guard lamented the tragic loss of life and extended thoughts to the victims' families. Helicopter tours, which include scenic views of waterfalls and beaches, are popular among tourists in Kauai, known for its stunning landscapes.
