Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, the daughter of former South African President Jacob Zuma, has stepped down as a Member of Parliament following serious allegations that she deceived a group of South African men into joining the fight for Russia in Ukraine.

She became a member of the opposition party uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) last year but her recent actions have drawn scrutiny after claims that she misled 17 men into believing they were heading to Russia for legitimate training.

In her affidavit, Zuma-Sambudla asserts she had no idea the men were being recruited for combat, expressing her shock upon learning of the situation. MK has stated that her decision to resign was made independently so she could focus on the return of those trapped in the war.

An anxious family of one recruit shared messages revealing shocking conditions and fears of the mercenaries deployed in Ukraine.

Despite her denial of any wrongdoing, public outcry continues as the families of the men demand accountability and safe returns, stating that the situation has brought them tremendous distress.

The allegations are being investigated by the South African authorities, considering potential human trafficking or exploitation claims against those involved, including Zuma-Sambudla.
