Evidence presented by prosecutors included police body‑camera footage, data from Flynn’s iPhone and Apple Watch captured around the time of the murder, and roughly 100,000 text messages exchanged with his former mistress, Alleigha Botner, who he met while she was interning at his church.

Botner testified about their nearly 18 months of relationship, recited an AI‑generated song Fisher allegedly wrote for her, and explained each lyric line in detail. The jury’s reaction to the perform‑ances, recorded and shared online, added to the case’s emotional weight.

Despite failing to locate the firearm—a gun kept in his truck’s console that disappeared when investigators arrived—Flynn’s defence argued no concrete evidence tied him to the crime and questioned the evidence of tampering. Prosecutors countered with a narrative rooted in the toxic texts and the quick change in Flynn’s statements to police.

The trial’s conclusion has placed the former Idol contestant, now a convict, within the context of a low‑profile Ohio family tragedy that shocked both the church community and the wider public.
