Convicted German Transgender Far-Right Extremist Arrested in Czech Republic
A convicted German transgender right-wing extremist, who has been on the run for months, has been arrested in the Czech Republic.
Marla-Svenja Liebich was apprehended in Krásná, a town located approximately 100km (62 miles) east of Prague, on the basis of a European arrest warrant.
Liebich, formerly known as Sven, failed to appear at the prison in the German town of Chemnitz in August 2025, where she was due to serve an 18-month jail term.
According to German media, Liebich was previously a member of a neo-Nazi group called Blood and Honour.
In July 2023, Liebich was given a sentence without parole for extreme right incitement to hatred, defamation, and insult, which totaled 18 months in prison. She had appealed the decision but lost.
After legally changing her gender in Germany under the new Self-Determination Act at the end of 2024, allegations arose questioning the sincerity of her transition. Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt accused her of abusing the law to evade accountability for her actions.
Reports indicate that during her arrest, Liebich was wearing men's clothing and a shaved head, leading to speculation about the authenticity of her gender identity change.
Currently, she remains in custody in the Czech Republic and is expected to be extradited to Germany to serve her sentence.
