Police in Caen are investigating a vehicle that collided with a crowd near the city’s train station, killing one person and injuring ten others, authorities reported.

The incident occurred close to a bar in the northern France town of Caen, after a fight erupted there. Videos posted on social media show a large crowd gathering around police cars and ambulances as the area was cordoned off.

Local officials said a person has been arrested and taken into custody while the emergency response was activated. Four victims are receiving treatment in a nearby hospital’s emergency ward, and six others are being cared for with less serious injuries.

Caen’s Specialised Crime Division detectives are leading the investigation, and residents have been warned to avoid the station’s surrounding area until it is declared safe.
