Hongkongers Embrace Nature in First Bird Call Contest

This weekend, the Hong Kong Bird Watching Society hosted its first-ever bird call contest, inviting enthusiasts to showcase their talents. The contest took place to promote conservation awareness among the public, while also celebrating the diverse avian population that the city has to offer.

Participants donned costumes that resembled various local bird species, skillfully mimicking the rhythmic calls of birds including the Koel, Asian barred owlet, and Chestnut-winged cockatoo. The grand prize was awarded to Bob Chan for his remarkable impression of a Eurasian tree sparrow, leaving the audience in awe of his skills.

According to sources, more than 580 bird species have been documented in Hong Kong, and this contest successfully amplified the voices of those advocating for environmental preservation.
