Mumbai police have apprehended an individual linked to the knife attack on esteemed Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, as reported by various media outlets. The incident occurred early Thursday at Khan's residence, where he was reportedly stabbed during a confrontation with an unknown assailant. Following surgery, doctors have confirmed that the actor is in stable condition.

Authorities have secured CCTV footage from Khan's lavish Bandra neighborhood home, leading to the initial speculation that the altercation may have been an attempted robbery. However, details about the detained individual’s role in the incident remain unclear.

According to a witness statement obtained by the BBC, a staff member at Khan's home reported disturbing details about the event. Nurse Eliyama Philip, who was present with Khan’s son, recounted seeing a man brandishing a wooden object and a knife demanding a ransom of 10 million rupees (approximately $115,477), instructing her and the nanny to remain silent.

A struggle ensued as Khan and his actress wife Kareena Kapoor rushed to intervene upon hearing the chaos. The altercation resulted in Khan sustaining multiple injuries, including a serious cut on his neck, which required immediate surgical attention at Lilavati Hospital. Dr. Nitin Dange announced that Khan's timely treatment significantly mitigated the risk of severe spinal damage.

As of Friday, Dr. Dange reported that Khan's condition has improved, stating, "We made him walk, and he walked well. Looking at his parameters and injuries, he is safe to be shifted out of the ICU." Nonetheless, the actor will need to adhere to strict rest and movement limitations for one week.

Mumbai Police Deputy Commissioner Dixit Gadam revealed that the suspected weapon has yet to be located and emphasized that their inquiries revolve around uncovering how the perpetrator accessed the apartment. "The accused used the fire escape ladder to enter," he clarified.
