North Korea Officially Confirms Troop Deployment to Support Russia in Ukraine Conflict

In a significant development, North Korea has confirmed that it has deployed troops to assist Russian military operations against Ukraine, marking a critical moment in their ongoing alliance.

North Korea has formally announced the dispatch of its troops to participate in the Ukraine war, aligning with Russian forces to reclaim territory in the Kursk region. The state news outlet KCNA reported that Kim Jong Un decreed the involvement of North Korean soldiers, professing their efforts in “completely liberating” the border area. This acknowledgment follows Russian military head Valery Gerasimov’s commendation of North Korean troops' “heroism.” Western intelligence had previously estimated that around 1,000 North Korean soldiers may have perished during the conflict, underscoring the human cost of the alliance.
