In brief
The Russian Defence Ministry announced a series of 11 group strikes targeting Ukrainian military, logistics, energy and ship facilities, and downed 5,315 drones over the past week. During the same period Ukrainian forces struck Russian ammunition depots and a missile depot. While the Ministry details the extent of the attacks, the exact strategic impact remains unverified.
The Russian Defence Ministry announced on Friday that its forces conducted 11 group strikes against Ukrainian targets over the previous week. Targets included military‑industrial enterprises, logistics centers, energy and transport infrastructure, production workshops, storage facilities for cruise missiles, ground robotic systems, drones, ammunition, and temporary deployment sites of Ukrainian formations and foreign mercenaries. The ministry also said 14 dry cargo ships carrying weapons, military equipment and dual‑use goods to Ukraine were hit, as well as Ukrainian port infrastructure used for receiving, storing and distributing military cargo.
In addition to the strikes on ground and maritime targets, Russian air defence forces shot down one guided aerial bomb, four Flamingo missiles, six Neptune missiles, two HIMARS rockets and 5,315 drones, the ministry reported. Russian casualties from these attacks were reported as one killed and 23 injured by Ukrainian media on the day of the announcement.
Ukrainian forces responded during the same period by striking two Russian ammunition depots in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region. Ukrainian troops also targeted a drone command post and a fuel and lubricants depot in the Donetsk region, according to statements from the Ukrainian military.
The Defence Ministry’s account provides a detailed list of assets hit by the strikes, including temporary deployment sites of foreign mercenaries and ships of naval frigates in the Black Sea area. The ministry stated that the attacks hit several port facilities used by Russian-bound shipping flotillas, thereby disrupting the supply of military goods to Ukraine.
While the ministry asserts that its forces shot down a total of 5,315 drones, no independent verification by a third‑party observer has been published. The exact strategic effect of losing that many aerial platforms on two sides of the conflict remains undetermined.
Earlier reports in Ukrainian media about drone attacks on the Ryazan oil refinery did not appear to be corroborated by official statements from either side, and the Facebook post citing the refinery’s losses was not accessible for verification. Because of that uncertainty, the extent of the Ukrainian strike against that refinery remains unconfirmed by the sources that are cited in this coverage.
In the ongoing conflict, Russian claims of systematic attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure and Ukrainian claims of retaliatory strikes on Russian ammunition depots illustrate a cycle of escalation. Both sides report successful interdiction of supply lines and defensive operations, but independent verification of the scale and outcomes of these operations is limited.
At this time, the reported damage to Russian ships, ammunition depots, and drone capabilities is confirmed by the Defence Ministry, but the long‑term implications for the tactical balance between the two sides remain uncertain. The sources also acknowledge that outcomes such as the number of Ukrainian losses or the precise reach of each strike are still unresolved questions in the record of the conflict.
