Several prisons across France experienced a shocking series of attacks, leading authorities to ramp up security measures. Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin confirmed that prisons were subjected to "intimidation attempts," including the burning of vehicles and gunfire from automatic weapons. Reports highlight incidents at six separate locations, including Toulon, Aix-en-Provence, Marseille, Valence, Nîmes, Luynes, Villepinte, and Nanterre. A post on the platform X revealed Darmanin's immediate response, as he announced his travel to Toulon to extend support to the affected staff. While he refrained from pointing fingers at any group for the attacks, he assured that the French government is initiating actions aimed at significantly disrupting the existing criminal networks.
