In brief

Dubai’s 12th Gulfood Manufacturing exhibition underlined how new production equipment and automation can strengthen food security by boosting productivity and cutting costs. The show, part of a larger co‑located cluster, attracted global decision‑makers and highlighted integrated solutions across the food value chain. While the event demonstrated robust interest and technology readiness, the long‑term commercial uptake and impact on global supply chains remain uncertain.

Dubai World Trade Centre hosted the 12th edition of Gulfood Manufacturing 2026 from 3–5 November, drawing a multinational audience of buyers and industry leaders who gathered to explore cutting‑edge production solutions aimed at strengthening global food security.

The show formed part of a broader cluster of four co‑located exhibitions—including GulfHost, ISM Middle East and Private Label Middle East—providing a consolidated view of the entire food production, retail and hospitality value chain, from ingredients to packaging, automation and confectionery. The event’s scope showcased how advanced technologies can improve productivity, maintain product quality, optimise resource consumption and reduce operating costs for manufacturers worldwide.

Gulfood Manufacturing 2026 has demonstrated the continued strength of the global food manufacturing industry, with exceptional international attendance and an outstanding calibre of buyers. What has been particularly encouraging is the level of serious commercial engagement on the show floor, with decision‑makers exploring new production lines, evaluating major equipment investments and progressing real business opportunities.

Mark Napier, Vice President of inD, commented that robust international participation reflected Dubai’s resilience and its capacity to support global business amidst economic and geopolitical uncertainty. Napier noted that food security depends on reliable production, processing and transportation as well as an integrated network of factories, equipment, ingredients and logistics services.

Exhibitors highlighted solutions that streamline plant operations, from AI‑driven manufacturing lines to robotics that reduce manual intervention, and from low‑energy processing equipment to high‑efficiency packaging systems. These technologies aim to increase output while lowering resource footprints, thereby strengthening operational resilience against market volatility and supply‑chain disruptions.

Looking ahead, Gulfood Manufacturing will relocate to the Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City Dubai for its next edition scheduled for 1–3 November 2027. The move underscores a continued commitment to providing a modern venue for industry exchange and investment exploration.

What remains uncertain is how quickly the showcased technologies will be adopted across the global manufacturing landscape, whether the projected productivity gains will translate into measurable reductions in food‑system risks, and how the event’s commercial outcomes will influence long‑term supply‑chain stability. These ambiguities mirror the broader question of whether the current surge in innovation will sustainably fortify feeding a growing world population.
