US‑Iran Deal Set to Be Signed Sunday, Trump Says

Former President Donald Trump announced on social media that a U.S.‑Iran agreement aimed at ending their current escalation will be signed on Sunday. The offer also promises open access to the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei cautioned that the exact signing date is still uncertain, though Tehran states it will not be on the next day. Pakistan’s mediation team remains involved and is preparing for an electronic signing. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said technical talks would follow next week if the deal materialises.

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi confirmed talks were close with the United States and that the memorandum of understanding would include reopening the Strait and lifting U.S. port blockades. Nuclear‑agenda talks are expected to start later.

The agreement also covers possible conflict resolution between Israel and Lebanon’s Hezbollah, with Tehran demanding inclusion of Lebanon in any settlement. Security analysts note the war began after U.S. and Israeli strikes in February, provoking retaliatory attacks that shut the Strait.

U.S. officials acknowledged some agreed terms, but said economic benefits depend on Tehran fulfilling its commitments. Analysts say the outcome could reshape Middle‑East stability, but international reactions remain cautious.
