LOS ANGELES (AP) — Investigators are currently questioning relatives of director and actor Rob Reiner along with his wife, Michele, after both were found dead in their Los Angeles home. According to a law enforcement official, preliminary investigations suggest they sustained stab wounds.

Los Angeles Police have yet to identify any suspects in the case, as confirmed by Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton during a briefing on Sunday night. We are seeking to interview every family member possible to ascertain the facts of this tragic incident, Hamilton stated.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a medical assistance call shortly after 3:30 p.m., discovering both Reiner, aged 78, and Michele, 68, deceased at the scene.

The investigation is being handled by detectives from the Robbery Homicide Division, and they have referred to the case as an 'apparent homicide.' However, identities of the deceased have not been officially confirmed by authorities as of yet.

Reiner was widely recognized for his contributions to Hollywood, directing acclaimed films including This is Spinal Tap, A Few Good Men, and The Princess Bride. He rose to fame as Meathead in the 1970s TV classic All in the Family, for which he earned two Emmy Awards.

In a statement that highlighted the family's bond, relatives of the late legendary producer Norman Lear expressed deep grief over Reiner's abrupt passing. Norman often referred to Rob as a son, reflecting their remarkable relationship both to us and the world, the statement said.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass described the event as a devastating loss for the community, underscoring Reiner's contributions to American culture and advocacy for social justice. Reiner was married to photographer Michele Singer since 1989, and they had three children together.

Historically, occurrences of violent crime in the Brentwood area are rare, adding to the shock of this incident.
