Acting veteran James Handy found dead after a stabbing outside his Los Angeles home.

The 81‑year‑old character actor, best known for roles in “Jumanji,” “Top Gun: Maverick,” and several TV crime dramas, was discovered in an unconscious state in the chest area outside his residence on Wednesday morning. Los Angeles Police Department officials say he was taken to the hospital but later pronounced dead.

Police responded to a 911 call, recording the caller’s statement: “I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.” The department identified the caller as Michael Gledhill, 44, and arrested him on the scene. Gledhill was booked on a single charge of murder with bail set at $2 million.

Gledhill, who co‑resides with his mother, reportedly told officers he was the person they were looking for. No attorney has been confirmed for him, and county public defender communications have yet to provide a response.

Handy’s career spanned decades, with a notable role as an exterminator in the 1995 film “Jumanji” and a bartender in the 2022 film “Top Gun: Maverick.” He also appeared in popular TV crime shows like “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “The Closer,” and “Cold Case.”

Talent group representative Pam Ellis‑Evenas expressed deep sadness: “I could not have asked for a more talented, humble or gracious client and friend than James Handy.”
