A Mexican influencer, César Gastélum, was shot dead while livestreaming on social media.

The incident took place in a fast‑food plaza in the northern city of Culiacán, where the 23‑year‑old influencer and two friends filmed their evening. Two men riding a motorbike approached and fired several shots at close range, killing him instantly.

Gastélum, who had over 500,000 followers on TikTok, normally produced comedic videos and shared travel and nightlife snaps. The YouTube‑style livestream was first believed to feature a delivery‑driver because everyone wore bright orange coats and backpacks.

The police and forensic teams cordoned the spot, collecting cartridge casings and reviewing security footage. The suspects on the motorcycle fled the scene, and no arrests have been made to date.

This is not the first influencer victim in Mexico. Last year, 23‑year‑old Valeria Márquez was shot dead in a beauty salon while livestreaming. Violence in Sinaloa has risen since the split between the Los Chapitos and La Mayiza factions of the Sinaloa cartel.

It remains unclear if Gastélum had received threats before his death, and investigators are still working to uncover the motives behind the attack.
