The 17‑year‑old charged with aiding and abetting murder livestreamed a attack that brought death to six including the security guard Amin Abdullah. The attackers were two teens, aged 17 and 18, who opened fire on the Islamic Center of San Diego on 18 May, before ending their own lives. Prosecutors allege the girl posted a manifesto from the shooters and captured the event on Go‑Pro‑style helmets.
The case comes after North Carolina lawyers warned that the teen’s actions could make her legally responsible the same as the gunmen. The attack also featured racist and antisemitic writings, with references to white supremacist ideology and the 2019 Christchurch mosque shooting as a model.
Police Chief Scott Wahl praised the security guard’s heroic defensive stand that protected around 140 children inside the mosque. Authorities found an arsenal of around 30 guns and a crossbow taken from the shooters’ parents.
The United States suspects a broader plan targeting other religious and minority venues, including a Jewish temple and a predominantly African‑American high school. The investigation stresses the need to monitor online hate propaganda streams and younger extremist networks. The governor’s office will continue to address the threat of hate crimes in the region.
