Tiger Woods expressed his disbelief as he was handcuffed after crashing his vehicle last week in Florida, in an incident captured on body camera footage released last Thursday.

Deputy Tatiana Levenar of the Martin County Sheriff’s department told Woods, “I do believe your normal faculties are impaired, and you’re under an unknown substance, so at this time you’re under arrest for DUI.” This statement came after Woods underwent a sobriety test.

The golfer explained that he was distracted, stating he was looking at his phone and changing the radio station when his speeding Land Rover clipped a truck and subsequently rolled onto its side on a residential road in Jupiter Island.

Woods was taken aback as he asked, “I’m being arrested?” to which Levenar confirmed, “Yes sir.”

During the investigation, officers discovered pills in Woods’ pocket. “That’s a Norco,” Woods identified after an officer revealed two white pills, acknowledging that it is a painkiller containing acetaminophen and hydrocodone. Authorities later confirmed Woods was indeed in possession of hydrocodone.

In the footage, Woods firmly stated to Deputy Levenar that he had not consumed alcohol and admitted to taking “a few” medications earlier in the day; however, the details of those medications were muted in the released video.

On Tuesday, Woods pleaded not guilty to charges of driving under the influence. He later released a statement declaring an indefinite break from public life to prioritize his health and undergo treatment.
