Jonathan Andic, son of Mango founder Isak Andic, has been arrested in connection with his father's tragic death. The 45-year-old was taken into custody by Catalan police as part of a renewed investigation that initially viewed Isak Andic's death as an accident but was reconsidered following new evidence.
Isak Andic, 71, fell from a ravine during a hike in the Montserrat mountains near Barcelona with Jonathan in December 2024. Conflicting reports about the circumstances of the fall have led to increased scrutiny, with some media alleging that family members might have been with them at the time.
Jonathan has consistently denied any wrongdoing regarding his father's accident. A spokesperson for the family expressed confidence in his innocence while he faces police questioning. ``
Since joining the family business in 2005, Jonathan Andic oversaw the Mango Man line and was appointed vice-chairman after his father’s death. The case was initially closed in early 2025 due to a lack of evidence but was reopened the same year, drawing attention to inconsistencies in Jonathan's account of events.
After his arrest, Jonathan appeared before a judge who decided to impose bail set at €1 million, alongside the condition to surrender his passport and report weekly to court. The fallout of this incident raises significant concerns about the future of the Mango brand, which his father founded in 1984. Under Isak's leadership, the clothing chain experienced remarkable growth, operating almost 3,000 stores across 120 countries at the time of his passing, with a reported net worth of $4.5 billion.
Mango CEO Toni Ruiz commented on Isak's death, stating it left a significant void, and vowed to honor his legacy by ensuring the brand continues to thrive.
