The US space agency NASA has publicly rejected comments made by reality star Kim Kardashian, who suggested that the landmark 1969 lunar landing was staged. On a recent episode of her series 'The Kardashians', Kardashian told co-star Sarah Paulson her belief that the Moon landing 'didn't happen.' In response, NASA's acting administrator, Sean Duffy, tweeted, 'Yes, we've been to the Moon before... 6 times!'
Kardashian's remarks echo long-standing conspiracy theories that have persisted since the Apollo missions, even as they have been comprehensively debunked by experts. During the episode, Kardashian displayed an interview clip with astronaut Buzz Aldrin, who walked on the lunar surface, and read a quote suggesting that no scary moments occurred during the mission because it 'didn't happen.'
Duffy not only refuted Kardashian's statements but also remarked on NASA's Artemis program, which aims to return to the moon under the upcoming leadership of Donald Trump. He extended an invitation to Kardashian to witness the Artemis launch at the Kennedy Space Center.
As conspiracy theories continue to find a platform, especially on social media, they challenge the communication of scientifically validated historical events. Duffy reiterated, 'Every single argument claiming that NASA faked the Moon landings has been discredited,' emphasizing the agency's success in lunar exploration over the decades.
