Actor Kiefer Sutherland has been arrested after allegedly assaulting and threatening a ride-share driver in Hollywood, police have said.
Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) stated that Sutherland 'entered a ride-share vehicle, physically assaulted the driver (the victim), and made criminal threats' at 00:15 PST (08:15 GMT) on Monday.
The victim reportedly suffered no injuries during the incident, according to the LAPD.
Sutherland, 59, has since been released after posting a $50,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in court on February 2. The BBC has reached out to his representatives for comments.
The altercation took place at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue and is currently under investigation by the LAPD's Hollywood Division.
Known for his roles as special agent Jack Bauer on FOX's '24' and as the US president in 'Designated Survivor,' Sutherland is also the son of renowned actor Donald Sutherland.
This is not Sutherland's first brush with the law; he has faced several arrests in the past, including a 48-day jail sentence in 2007 for driving under the influence and violating probation. He was arrested for assault in 2009, though that charge was later dropped, and he faced another arrest in 2020 for making an illegal U-turn in Hollywood.
