Israeli forces carried out attacks on the coastal city of Tyre, Lebanon, killing eight civilians and injuring dozens after Iran warned it could respond if the attacks continued.

The army issued an evacuation order that, for the first time, covered the Christian quarter north‑west of the city, citing alleged Hezbollah activity in the area. Residents fled in large numbers, creating traffic bottlenecks as the city’s roads were blocked.

The strikes came after a brief pause in hostilities that began on Monday, when Israel targeted Beirut in a move aimed at the Iranian‑backed group Hezbollah. Iran threatened that it would strike Israel again if conflicts escalated further.

The broader conflict began in March, when Hezbollah fired rockets at Israel following an Israeli strike that killed Iran’s top leader. Israel responded with a bombing campaign over Lebanon and an invasion of parts of its south.

Despite a U.S. brokered ceasefire in April, the fighting continued, with Israel and Lebanon renewing a ceasefire on Wednesday but Hezbollah rejecting a deal that demanded a full Israeli withdrawal. Israel vowed to persist in its campaign in southern Lebanon.
