Israeli Air Strikes Hit Tyre Amid Iranian Warning

Israel has carried out a series of air strikes across southern Lebanon, targeting the coastal city of Tyre, despite a warning from Iran not to continue attacks in the country.

The Lebanese health ministry reported that eight people were killed in Tyre, prompting the Israeli military to issue a new evacuation order for residents in the city, including its Christian quarter for the first time.

Israel and Iran paused hostilities on Monday after an Israeli strike on Beirut, targeting the Iranian‑backed group Hezbollah, triggered the first exchange of fire since a truce in April. Iran warned it could retaliate if Israel continued attacks in Lebanon, but Israel vowed to keep campaigning against Hezbollah.

The conflict further complicates U.S. President.‑Donald Trump’s attempts to broker a deal between the U.S., Israel and Iran to end the war.

Lebanese media reported that Israeli air and artillery strikes across southern Lebanon killed at least 13 people on Tuesday, including two pre‑dawn drone strikes in Kfar Roummane, near Nabatieh. Later, Israeli forces again urged residents of Tyre to leave immediately, moving beyond the Zahrani River 30 km (20 miles) to the north. For the first time, the evacuation order extended to the Christian quarter, where Hezbollah fighters were allegedly operating.Roads heading north were busy as residents fled; mattresses and bags were tied to cars.

Among evacuees was Elias Barbour, who said he was heading to his sister’s home in Beirut. He asked, "What have we done wrong? What are we supposed to do?" He spoke to AFP news agency. Mohammed Mustafa, heading to Sidon with his daughter, unwillingly fled, saying "It's a lie when they say Hezbollah is here… This is a lie to scare people."

The Israeli military posted its order on social media minutes after reports of air strikes on several buildings in Tyre’s eastern al‑Massaken al‑Shaabiya area. The Lebanese health ministry said at least eight people were killed and 32 injured, but recorded the figures as provisional, as rescuers were still clearing rubble.

In the afternoon, two Syrian nationals were killed in Israeli strikes in the villages of Ansariyeh and Aadloun, on the coastal highway north of Tyre. No immediate comment came from the Israeli military. However, Israel’s chief of staff, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, said forces continue operations in several areas of southern Lebanon, dismantling Hezbollah infrastructure. He also noted that troops in the Ramim Ridge area of northern Israel’s Galilee had shot dead a "terrorist" who had crossed the border from Lebanon and opened fire.

Hezbollah said on Tuesday that its fighters had launched rockets at a new Israeli military site in Maroun al‑Ras, and targeted Israeli troops and military vehicles further north with attack drones.

The conflict started on 2 March when Hezbollah launched rockets into Israel in retaliation for an Israeli strike that killed Iran’s supreme leader. Israel responded with a bombing campaign across Lebanon and a ground invasion of the country’s south. Lebanon’s health ministry says at least 3,666 people have been killed in the war, while Israeli authorities report 30 soldiers and four civilians killed on both sides of the border. Nearly one million people in Lebanon have been displaced, and 1.4 million need humanitarian aid, per the UN.

In late March, the U.S. brokered a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, but the conflict continues. Tensions escalated on Sunday following a Hezbollah rocket attack north of Israel's southern suburbs and a subsequent Israeli air strike in Beirut’s Dahieh area. Iran fired roughly 30 ballistic missiles at Israel; Israeli forces responded with two waves of air strikes on Iran, killing two Iranian officers reported by state broadcasters. The Iranian military announced it paused operations after a ‘painful response’ to Israel, pledging more severe measures if attacks continued. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the country was holding fire at the moment, but the struggle against Iran and Hezbollah was not finished, warning that Israel would respond with overwhelming force to a new Iranian attack.
