US country music star Ella Langley has called off her sold‑out Tulsa show on Friday night after a serious security threat was raised, leaving thousands of fans stunned.
The 27‑year‑old announced via Instagram that she had to cancel the performance just two hours before the 19,000‑seat BOK Center was set to go on the green, describing the decision as “incredibly difficult.”
She said the threat concerned the safety of her fans, the venue staff and her touring team. Detective Chief Inspector Richard Meulenberg of Tulsa Police received a phone call warning that shots might be fired and bombs could be planted at the event.
Police had already conducted a full sweep of the arena before the call, using sniffer dogs and security inspections, and found no evidence of a credible danger. Nevertheless, Meulenberg said the call had “disrupted the event” and prompted a second check.
Langley apologized to her fans and promised that “additional information regarding ticket refunds will be shared as soon as possible.” No further details were released at the time of her post.
The BOK Center issued a statement saying that its primary concern was the safety of “everyone involved” and that the decision to cancel was made after “careful consideration.” The venue expressed regret over the disappointment caused to ticket holders.
This cancellation comes after Langley’s single "Choosin' Texas" set a record as the longest‑running number one in US chart history, and after she swept the Academy of Country Music Awards in May. For now, fans remain hopeful that the matter will be resolved swiftly and that the artist’s next performance will proceed safely.
