A Russian military court has sentenced Maj. Gen. Popov gained prominence for his role in repelling a significant Ukrainian offensive in Zaporizhzhia, gaining support from both military personnel and pro-war commentators. However, his outspoken criticism led to his downfall, evidenced in a recording where he claimed he was removed for being honest about the issues plaguing the army. Popov specifically accused Gen.
