Unidentified Drones Spotted at Key US Air Bases in the UK

The USAF has acknowledged the presence of unidentified drones over RAF Lakenheath, RAF Mildenhall, and RAF Feltwell, questioning their intent, while asserting its commitment to safeguarding its installations.

In a series of intriguing incidents, several unidentified drones have been reported hovering over three significant US air bases in the United Kingdom, as confirmed by the United States Air Force (USAF). These occurrences took place between Wednesday and Friday, involving "small unmanned aerial systems" detected at RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall in Suffolk, and RAF Feltwell in nearby Norfolk.

While the USAF has stated that it is currently uncertain if these drones pose a threat, the organization emphasized its right to protect all installations under its command. Although no details have been released regarding specific defense mechanisms employed during these sightings, a spokesperson for the USAF Europe stated, "The small unmanned aerial systems [UASs] were spotted in the vicinity of and over RAF Lakenheath, RAF Mildenhall, and RAF Feltwell."

The spokesperson noted that the number of these UASs varied, including different sizes and configurations. They reported that the incidents were closely monitored, with Daniel safeguarding protocols ensuring that there was no detrimental effect on base residents or critical infrastructure.

The USAF is actively overseeing airspace security and collaborating with local authorities and mission partners to ensure the safety of personnel, facilities, and assets at these bases. Notably, RAF Mildenhall houses the USAF's 100th Air Refueling Wing, with RAF Lakenheath home to F-35A and F-15E fighter jets, while RAF Feltwell focuses on logistical support and housing for military families.

In response to these sightings, a representative from the British Ministry of Defence commented, "We take threats seriously and maintain robust measures at defense sites, including counter-drone security capabilities." However, the Ministry declined to elaborate on specific security protocols.
