A decomposing body found in a car registered to singer D4vd has been identified as missing 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, US authorities report.
Police officers discovered the remains inside the boot of the impounded Tesla on 8 September, after responding to reports of a foul smell at a Hollywood tow yard in Los Angeles.
Authorities stated the cause and time of Rivas's death remain unknown.
Celeste, from Lake Elsinore, California, was reported missing on 5 April 2024, according to a missing person flyer cited by CBS, the BBC's US partner.
Earlier, officers indicated that the Tesla had likely been at the tow yard for a couple of days before the grim discovery.
The vehicle, featuring a Texas license plate, was towed from the Hollywood Hills after being abandoned five days earlier.
The car is registered to David Anthony Burke, the official name of the singer D4vd.
Last week, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed the remains belonged to someone 5ft 2in tall with wavy black hair, who was clad in a tube top and black leggings at the time of death.
Notably, the remains displayed a tattoo on the right index finger that read: 'Shhh.' It appeared the body had been deceased for an extended period of time.
D4vd, who has amassed millions of followers on social media, is known for viral hits like 'Here With Me' and 'Romantic Homicide'. His recent tour was interrupted when the remains were found in the Tesla, leading to the cancellation of a planned show in Seattle.
Authorities confirmed D4vd is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
