In a tragic event reported from central Mexico, at least 10 individuals have lost their lives and over 40 others sustained injuries when a freight train collided with a double-decker bus. The incident occurred as the bus attempted to cross a railway line near the Atlacomulco region. CCTV footage suggests the bus was hit while crossing, raising concerns about adherence to safety signals.

The train’s operator, Canadian Pacific Kansas City, expressed its condolences to the victims' families, urging drivers to respect railroad stop signs to help avoid similar tragedies in the future. Local authorities confirmed that both the bus and train companies are cooperating with investigations currently underway.

Images from the crash site show considerable damage to the bus, with missing sections of its roof and shattered windows. Emergency services have been working diligently at the scene, transporting dozens of the injured to local hospitals for treatment. The State of Mexico's attorney general reported that among the deceased were seven women and three men, with some injured victims in critical condition.

This incident marks a continuation of a concerning trend in Mexico; earlier this year, fatal bus accidents claimed numerous lives, including a May collision that resulted in at least 21 deaths. As investigations proceed, authorities remain committed to ensuring safety measures are enhanced to prevent future incidents.
