US Implements Comprehensive Review of Visa Holders Amid Strict Immigration Policies

An extensive evaluation of visa records is underway to ensure compliance with immigration laws as part of President Trump's aggressive stand on immigration.

In a significant step towards tightening immigration control, the US government is reviewing over 55 million visa holders’ records. This involves continuous vetting for indicators of legal violations or security threats, reflecting President Trump's ongoing focus on immigration enforcement.

The United States has launched a sweeping review of visa holders, examining the records of more than 55 million individuals to determine if any have violated the terms of their entry or stay. A spokesperson from the State Department confirmed to the Associated Press that the initiative will include "continuous vetting" of visa holders. Any visa found to be linked to violations such as overstaying, criminal behavior, or connections to terrorist activities may be revoked.

As President Donald Trump works to solidify his anti-immigration agenda during his second term, measures include mass deportations, travel bans affecting specific countries, and the revocation of approximately 6,000 student visas. The review extends to new applicants as well, who will be screened on social media for any signs of hostility towards American values, citizens, or governing institutions.

Matthew Tragesser, spokesperson for US Citizenship and Immigration Services, stated, "America’s benefits should not be granted to those harboring anti-American sentiments." This policy aligns with the administration's goal to identify and exclude individuals who threaten national security or promote violence.

In recent announcements, Secretary of State Marco Rubio declared an immediate halt to worker visa issuance for truck drivers, citing safety concerns with foreign drivers on American roads. This adds to a string of restrictive immigration policies since Trump assumed office, including arrests of foreign students protesting U.S. foreign policy.

Additionally, citizens from Malawi and Zambia now face a $15,000 deposit requirement for business or tourist visas, part of broader travel restrictions that have affected nationals from numerous countries. Trump's administration has also sought to temporarily revoke legal status for over 500,000 migrants and has proposed ending birthright citizenship, emphasizing an ongoing commitment to reshape U.S. immigration.
