Marcos Family Member Subject to Flight Alcohol Restrictions Following Jetstar Disruption
Analisa Josefa Corr encounters legal repercussions after an in-flight altercation implicating alcohol consumption and misconduct.
In a significant development, Analisa Josefa Corr, daughter of the late Ferdinand Marcos, the former dictator of the Philippines, has been placed under a prohibition from consuming alcohol at airports and during flights following an altercation involving intoxication on a Jetstar flight. The incident, which occurred on December 29 during a trip from Hobart to Sydney, saw Corr and her husband, James Alexander Corr, reportedly engage in "disorderly behaviour" leading to their removal from the aircraft by law enforcement.
Police reports indicate that Ms Corr was accused of "grabbing and shaking a fellow passenger" while exiting the aircraft's restroom, prompting a disturbance onboard. Although both Ms. Corr and her husband pleaded not guilty to charges of failing to adhere to safety instructions and consuming outside alcohol, they consented to a ban on drinking while out on bail.
Should they be convicted, each could face whopping fines of up to A$13,750 (approximately $8,520; £6,925) for their infractions. Additionally, Ms. Corr faces a serious assault charge, which could result in up to two years of imprisonment. As part of their bail conditions, both have been asked to provide A$20,000, which would be forfeited if they violate these terms.
Ms. Corr, aged 53, is the Australia-raised daughter of Ferdinand Marcos and former model Evelin Hegyesi, and is the half-sister of the current Philippine president, Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Her husband, Mr. Corr, 45, is reported to be a former soldier as per Australian outlets.
In light of this incident, the Australian Federal Police (AFP) have reiterated the importance of maintaining appropriate behaviour at airports. Sergeant Luke Stockwell stated, "You don’t want to start the new year with a significant fine or worse, behind bars," emphasizing their intention to increase airport patrols during the busy holiday season. Jetstar Air also conveyed its zero-tolerance policy on disruptive behaviours, prioritizing the safety of all passengers and crew.
