In the Aegean Sea, on the island of Santorini, Greek officials have activated emergency protocols after a dramatic increase in seismic activity, characterized by over 200 earthquakes reported within just 48 hours. Schools were closed, and local emergency services mobilized as tremors continued to rattle the region, particularly affecting popular destinations such as Santorini and Amorgos.

Seismologist Gerasimos Papadopoulos described the phenomenon as an "intense pre-seismic sequence," indicating a worrying pattern of escalating magnitudes. From Brussels, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis urged locals to remain calm and heed safety directives.
