Crown Princess's Son Faces Serious Legal Allegations in Norway

Marius Borg Høiby, the 28-year-old son of Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit, has been charged with 32 criminal offences, notably four counts of rape, as announced by prosecutors. The charges stem from incidents involving two former partners and violations of restraining orders. Høiby, who has denied the most severe accusations, intends to plead guilty to lesser charges when proceedings begin. If convicted of the major allegations, he could face a prison sentence of up to 10 years.

The charges specifically allege abuse against a former partner and include incidents of filming women without consent. Prosecutor Sturla Henriksbø stated that the alleged rapes occurred between 2018 and 2024, with at least one incident reported to have occurred following Høiby’s arrest. He faced multiple arrests in the previous year, and the trial is anticipated to begin in January, expected to last around six weeks.
